News Brief

Dear Friend,

With the Olympics coming to a close we’ve had a fun couple of weeks celebrating the incredible dedication and athleticism of the competitors who have given their all for their teammates and countries. As Americans we join together to cheer on hometown athletes like Courtney Thompson from Kent and enjoy the accomplishments of Team USA. Congratulations to all of the athletes who have worked so hard to achieve their dreams and serve as a source of national pride for us all.

Law Enforcement and Communities Coming Together

Congress must lead the way in bringing together communities and the law enforcement officers sworn to protect them. I am 100 percent committed to tackling the division in our neighborhoods and cities. Please take a minute to read about my recent conversation with the Daily Signal about rebuilding trust and respect. To access the article please click here.

This week, I held a roundtable in Wenatchee with Sheriffs and Police Chiefs from the surrounding areas to hear their respective views on the current social climate and discuss how we can all work together to restore trust and civility. I appreciate their input and will continue working with everyone in our communities and in DC until we get this right.

Breaking Ground for Community Health

Great news for Chelan residents. Columbia Valley Community Health is opening a brand new, state of the art community health center in Chelan. I was honored to attend the ground breaking of the 17,000 square foot facility that will provide a wide range of health services and include a playground and park for families to enjoy.

He’s an Inspiration to us All

Daniel Lyon continues to inspire us. It has been one year since the Twisp River fire severely burned 65 percent of his body and killed three of his fellow firefighters, Richard Wheeler, Andrew Zajac, and Tom Zbyszewski. Despite the loss of his friends and nearly losing his own life, Daniel remains committed to putting his community before himself and strives to become a police officer. Please join me in honoring the brave men we lost in the fire and thanking Daniel for being a true American hero.

In these last weeks of summer please have fun and stay safe.  See you next time!

Sincerely,

Dave
